Smiling-family-with-grandparents-album-LR.jpgSeniors love to tell stories about their younger days. If you have a special senior in your life, why not capture their legacy, and show you care, by asking questions and really listening to the answers? You'll discover many hidden gems and they will enjoy taking a trip down memory lane. Here are 4 questions that will open the gateway to unending conversation.

  • What were your siblings like? You can find out how they developed their first set of social skills. They might have had a hard time getting along with one brother or sister in particular. Or maybe they were the 'problem child'.
  • Who was your best friend growing up? Some of us are fortunate enough to have a friendship that lasts from youth into the golden years. Perhaps your senior had to say goodbye to a cherished buddy that moved away.
  • How did you and your spouse get together? If they are happily married, or lost their loved one, they will enjoy answering this question. You'll discover if it was immediate chemistry or a pursuit that lasted for years.
  • Where is your hometown? Whether they grew up in a small village or a busy city, their locale no doubt had an effect on how they turned out. Take time to get to know a bit more about those days.

You can probably add more questions to this list and talk for hours. So grab a cup of coffee and enjoy learning more about the senior you hold dear.
